Lafayette, Indiana
Just over 60 miles northwest of Indianapolis, Lafayette, Indiana serves as the county seat for Tippecanoe County. Lafayette couples with West Lafayette to form the Greater Lafayette metropolitan area.
Well known for its high-ranking K-12 public education system, the Lafayette area also boasts several large Indiana colleges, including a branch of Ivy Tech Community College, Indiana Business College, and of course, West Lafayette is home to Purdue University, nationally respected for its educational and athletic offerings.

Lafayette, Indiana was formed in the early 1800’s and is named for the French General Lafayette’s service during the American Revolutionary War. In its infancy, Lafayette was well-served by its location along the Wabash River, making it a prominent shipping center; later it was equally served by the Monon Railroad. Both of these landmarks were major boons to Lafayette industry.

Today, Lafayette, Indiana has a population of over 60,000 and is largely supported economically by Purdue University, as well as divisions of large companies such as Subaru, Eli Lilly and Company, and Wabash National. Residents and visitors enjoy a wealth of opportunity for making the most of leisure time, from a stroll through downtown to a day trip to Columbian Park, Lafayette has a surprising number of things to see to see and do, as well as several annual festivals and events.
